Here are the volunteer opportunities for Year Up. Let’s have significant participation in these opportunities. This organization provides us with the opportunity to close the opportunity divide in Wilmington.

Network with students and other partners during this educational experience for Year Up young adults. Students practice the in’s and out’s of networking while mingling with current corporate partners and supporters in Wilmington.
Mock Interviews
Number of Volunteers Needed: 1-10
May 14th 2:00-5:00pm, Wilmington University

Participate in mock interviews and act as a hiring manager for students and ask them standard interview questions about an actual job posting at an actual company. After sharing your feedback and tips, students can be better prepared for an actual interview.
Elevator Pitch Judges
Number of Volunteers Needed: 2-3

Sit on a panel with other judges and use your presentation and professional skills to judge Year Up students on their 30 second Elevator Pitch introductions. Students share their pitches and often untraditional experiences to the panel who scores them on their presentation, content and confidence.
Become a Mentor
June-December 2019

Become a mentor to a Year Up student. Work with the young adult on your own scheduled time to guide the student professionally and support them during their 6 month long internships. This is a flexible opportunity; the commitment is that you meet with the student once a month in person and be in touch with them virtually once a week. All students are located in the Greater Wilmington area. We ask every mentor to attend a trainings and the kickoff event, all other meetings with your mentee will happen on your own time.

Professional Clothing Drive
Year Round
Number of Volunteer Needed: Various
Host a professional clothing drive to support Year Up students. Items needed include women’s pants, dresses, blouses, shoes, jackets and blazers. We are in need of men’s dress pants, shirts, blazers, ties, dress socks and shoes. All sizes are needed. Year Up can provide a collection box and help to organization the donation pickup.
